RIYADH: Saudi air defences intercepted a drone in the Riyadh region and destroyed two others over the oil-rich Eastern Region and the Southern Region on Saturday, according to the Saudi-led military coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthis, as attacks by the rebel group continue.

“Air defences intercepted and destroyed a hostile drone in the Riyadh region,” coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki wrote on X, adding that “debris from the interception fell without causing injuries”.

Malki did not say who launched the drone in Riyadh. However, the coalition said earlier that it intercepted and destroyed a drone over Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Region, and later said it intercepted and destroyed a drone that was launched towards the Southern Region.
