TAXILA: The local administration has sealed a private school in Jand town of Attock over its alleged failure to possess mandatory health and building safety certificates, raising concerns about compliance with regulations governing the safety and well-being of students.

The action was taken by Assistant Commissioner Jand Ahmad Ali Raza and Deputy District Education Officer Saeed Ashraf during an inspection of the institution located in the urban area of Mohallah Saghirabad on Wednesday.

Officials found that the school management did not have a health certificate or a building safety certificate, documents required to ensure that educational premises meet basic health and structural safety standards.

The administration has continued inspections of educational institutions across Jand town to assess cleanliness, sanitation, health requirements, building safety and other precautionary measures.

The drive comes amid growing emphasis on enforcing safety regulations at educational institutions in Punjab following incidents that have raised concerns about students’ welfare.

The administration is seeking to ensure that schools comply with applicable rules and provide a safe environment for children. Officials stressed that school managements must fulfil all legal requirements relating to students’ health and safety, adding that compliance with the prescribed standards was essential to protect children.

Meanwhile, four persons were arrested for their involvement in three different sexual crimes in different parts of Attock on Wednesday, police sources said.

In the first incident, two persons were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy in the village Narra in the limits of Jand Police Station.

According to police sources, the accused are also teenage boys.

Separately, a man was netted for allegedly ‘sexually assaulting’ a teenager in Pind Sultani village in the same police station limits.

Moreover, a man was arrested for sexually assaulting an eleven-year-old boy in the limits of Injra Police Station.

The respective police registered separate cases and launched further investigations.
