COUNTERFEIT CHARGERS

COUNTERFEIT CHARGERS: Type-C chargers are becoming a part of our daily lives. People buy chargers just by looking at their finishing and size. In Pakistan, unregistered and uncertified companies manufacture aesthetically nice chargers without following proper safety and certification standards which guarantee correct and compatible charging. Due to this reason, a large number of smartphone batteries get damaged and their charging circuits fail, resulting in e-waste. Every charger should carry a unique QR code and serial number. Scanning it should open Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) website confirming if a charger is certified or not.

CIVIL DISPENSARY: Mullachat is one of the most important border areas of Mand, comprising three union councils (UCs). The provincial government had established a Civil Dispensary some 30 years ago, and posted a doctor to provide basic healthcare facilities to the local population. However, for the last several years, neither a doctor nor a health official has been posted at the dispensary. It is disheartening to note that an entire dispensary meant to serve thousands of people is being run by a single medical technician. The authorities concerned should upgrade Mullachat Civil Dispensary to a basic health unit (BHU) and provide essential facilities, including doctors, nurses, lady health visitors and medicines.

NON-FUNCTIONAL ELEVATORS: The Punjab Mass Transit Authority has introduced e-tickets at the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro stations, which is another initiative towards digitalisation of the intra-city transport system. It has also been observed that most elevators and escalators at the stations have been either undergoing maintenance, or are completely non-functional. It has become inconvenient for the elderly and the physically challenged passengers to reach the bus bays. The authorities concerned must u rgently ensure a convenient commute for the masses.
