BANNU: Five terrorists were killed and seven others injured in a drone strike on a suspected hideout in the Zarwam area of Wazir subdivision here on Tuesday, sources claimed.

They claimed that the targeted hideout was allegedly associated with the local Taliban’s so-called “Gidhar Group”. However, identities of those killed and injured could not be officially confirmed.

Further details about the nature of the strike, the type of drone used and the extent of the casualties remained unclear.

No official statement confirming the reported death toll was immediately available.

The incident comes amid renewed security concerns in parts of Bannu, where attacks on security personnel have raised concerns about law and order.

On Thursday night, terrorists attacked the Gumbati police post, leaving five personnel injured.

The reported drone strike in the Zarwam area following the attack on the Gumbati police post has once again brought the security situation in Wazir subdivision into focus.

However, no confirmed information is available to establish a direct link between the two incidents.

Further details regarding the drone strike, the identities of the casualties and the circumstances surrounding the incident are awaited from the relevant authorities.
