BAJAUR: Illegal structures were razed during an anti-encroachment drive in Khar Bazaar here on Tuesday.

According to a statement, the large-scale operation to clear Khar Bazaar of all kinds of illegal structures was launched in light of the recommendations of a meeting chaired by deputy commissioner Adnan Farid Afridi.

The participants termed such action vital to ease the smooth movement of traffic and pedestrians in the bazaar. The statement said that besides officials of the district administration, personnel of TMA and police took part in the action led by Khar assistant commissioner Amirullah Khan Wazir.

“During the drive, members of the anti-encroachment team removed all kinds of illegally built business outlets, including fruit and vegetable stalls, pushcarts and street vending carts,” added the statement issued from the deputy commissioner’s office.

After clearing the footpaths and roads of encroachments, officials directed shopkeepers to refrain from reoccupying footpaths and portions of the road in front of their outlets.
