HYDERABAD, July 30: Two people were killed in rain-related incidents in Nawabshah as intermittent rain continued for the second day on Sunday in several parts of Sindh.

The rain may affect cotton, chilli and vegetable crops while it would be beneficial for sugarcane and paddy.

In Hyderabad, rain led to power breakdown in several parts of the city.

Rainwater accumulated in Sabzi Mandi, Goods Naka, City college, near Seth Kamaluddin high school, Phuleli and Paretabad, Gari Khata, Kohinoor chowk and Latifabad.

Power breakdown affected working in hospitals, causing difficulties to patients.

A WASA official said that sewerage pumping stations were working on generators.

NAWABSHAH: The city and its adjoining towns Daur, Bandhi, Jam Saheb, Sakrand, Qazi Ahmed and Doulatpur received heavy rains.

Two people Gul Hassan and Mohammad Sarang died of electrocution in Waris Shah village near Daur.

Several motorcycles slipped and the injured were taken to People’s Medical College and other hospitals of the district.

NAUSHARO FEROZE: The city and its adjoining towns Moro, Darya Khan Marri, Pidedan, Birya, Tharoshah and Mehrabpur received rains.

People suffered greatly as rain and sewerage water accumulated on main roads and streets of different towns.

SANGHAR: The district rec-eived moderate rain on Sunday.

The farming community, specially tail-end farmers, were happy.

KHAIRPUR: The city and adjoining areas received first shower of the monsoon season which started on Saturday.

There were reports of rain from Kotdiji, Nara and Thari Mirwah talukas.

THATTA: Torrential rains in the district since Saturday evening led serious problems besides a sigh of relief for farmers.

Low-lying areas in Thatta, Sujawal, Mirpur Bathoro, Daro, Chuhar Jamali, Jati and other towns were inundated under knee-deep water.

MIRPURKHAS: Rains continued since Saturday night causing accumulation of knee-deep rainwater in low-lying areas.

Power supply to Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts remained suspended since 12:30 am and was restored at 4am.

The areas which received rain are: Mirpurkhas, Mirwah, Digri, Tando Jan Mohammed, Jhuddo, Naukot, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Kunri, Umerkot, Samaro, Pithoro, Shadi Palli, Dhoronaro, Ghulam Nabi Shah, Sufi Faqeer, Sindhri, Khipro, Jhillori, Mithi, Diplo, Chhachhro, Islamkot, Nagarparkar and Chelhar.

DADU: Different parts of Dadu and Jamshoro district

and talukas of Kotri, Sehwan Sharif, Thana Bula Khan, Johi, Mehar and Khairpur Nathan Shah received heavy rains on Sunday.

The rain affected the electricity and transport system.
