ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR: The PTI has urged National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to issue production orders for its nine detained MNAs ahead of the National Assembly and Senate sessions scheduled for Tuesday.

In a letter to NA Speaker, Chief Whip Amir Dogar claimed that the nine MNAs were “currently detained” and requested him to issue production orders for them to enable them to attend the 30th session starting on Tuesday.

The lawmakers include Haji Imtiaz Ahmad Choudhry, Muhammad Jamal Ahsan Khan, Mian Ghous Muhammad, Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel, Dawar Khan Kundi, Junaid Akbar, Amjad Ali Khan, Fazal Muhammad Khan and Adil Khan Bazai. The PTI chief whip urged the speaker to take immediate notice of the matter and issue production orders to ensure the detained lawmakers’ attendance in the House.

Afridi’s brother, speaker’s cousin move high court to trace their relatives

CM, speaker’s family move PHC

The brother of non-functional Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi approached the Peshawar High Court to trace his whereabouts, while Waqar Ahmad Khan, a cousin of KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, also filed a petition before the court seeking similar relief.

The federal government had imposed emergency and governor’s rule in KP on October 11. On the same day, the PTI claimed that Mr Afridi, along with some of his cabinet ministers and party leaders, had been abducted.

The next day, officials, however, confirmed that Mr Afridi and some of his cabinet members were in preventative custody.

Muhammad Amir, Mr Afridi’s brother, filed a petition in the PHC, seeking multiple directives for the respondents, including the KP inspector general of police, Peshawar capital city police officer and others, to immediately take all lawful and effective measures to trace and recover his brother and, if he was found to be in custody, produce him before the high court so that the legality of his detention could be examined in accordance with Article 199(1)(b)(i) of the Constitution.

The petition was filed through senior counsel Bashir Khan Wazir.

He contended that the impugned detention and disappearance of the abductee were “wholly illegal, unlawful, without lawful authority and of no legal effect”, as the respondents had “failed to disclose any lawful order, warrant, abduction order or other legal authority under which the abductee was taken into custody”.

Separately, in his petition, KP speaker’s cousin Waqar Ahmad Khan states: “That, on 11.10.2026, at approximately 7:00pm, the detenue was allegedly abducted by certain unknown, armed and masked individuals from the premises of the Provincial Assembly of KP, Peshawar, in the presence of CCPO Peshawar. The precise sequence of events, the identities of the persons involved, and the circumstances in which the detenue was taken away require immediate verification through the relevant official record, eyewitness accounts, and other available evidence.”
