KARACHI: The city experienced hot weather on Tuesday as the temperature rose to 38.7 degrees Celsius with humidity recorded at 43 per cent, making conditions uncomfortable for people.

A Met official said October is usually a warm month in Karachi and is often referred to as the city’s “second summer”. He added that the recent rise in temperatures is linked to a high-pressure area in the upper atmosphere, which has weakened winds and caused temperatures to rise.

The official warned that the mercury could touch 40°C if the current trend continues.

“October is generally marked by warm weather in Karachi, even as the summer season begins to move towards cooler months. The high temperatures, combined with humidity levels of 43 per cent, have added to the discomfort, particularly during the daytime,” he added.
