ISLAMABAD, July 28: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered an amount of Rs849.5 million through plea-bargain deals in three separate cases, the NAB announced on Friday.

The recovery in the three cases had been made last month, said the NAB.

According to the NAB, Syed Ehtram Ali, former secretary of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Islamabad misappropriated funds of the council and accumulated assets beyond his known sources. Having failed to reasonably account for his assets, the accused had applied for plea-bargain and agreed to pay back his total liability of Rs65.2 million which was accepted by the Accountability Court of Rawalpindi.

In another case, the Accountability Court of Lahore accepted the plea-bargain of Haroon Ahmad, one of the co-directors of Rouf International Trading Company, a forex trading company, and recovered an amount of Rs582 million from him, said the NAB.

Haroon Ahmad is also stated to be the co-accused in a separate case of Trade Stations Securities.
