KARACHI, July 28: Pakistan Association of Blind has called for implementation of job quota reserved for physically-disabled and visually-impaired people.

A press statement quoted the association’s secretary-general Muzzafar Ali Qureishi as saying on Friday that a significant number of visually-impaired people, who were otherwise educated and skilled individuals, needed support to lead an independent and self-reliant life.

Praising the withdrawal of ban on fresh recruitment in the public sector institutions, he expressed the hope that the government would not only ensure implementation of job quota for visually-impaired people but also ensure that the private sector also realized its responsibility in this regard.

He appealed to Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim to ensure that two per cent quota reserved for the physically-handicapped was implemented in all provincial departments and organisations.
