Highways officer held for ‘graft’

GUJRAT: An Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) team arrested highways department Mandi Bahauddin executive engineer on corruption and bribery charges on Wednesday.

An ACE official said a team led by Mandi Bahauddin assistant director raided the office of highways department and arrested Executive Engineer Faez Shabbir, with Rs100,000 bribe money.

A case has been lodged against the officer at the Mandi Bahauddin ACE police station.

FIVE INJURED: Five workers of the National Highways Authority (NHA) were injured while painting a median on the GT Road when a speeding car hit them near Deona Mandi Stop on Wednesday.

The injured workers were identified as Fareed, Muhammad Boota, Bashir, Imran Nawaz and Murtaza Bakhsh.
