Last-eight matches at national tennis held

KARACHI: The quarter-finals of different categories were held in the 23rd Westbury National Juniors and Seniors Tennis Championship here at Karachi Club on Wednesday.

According to a press release issued by the Karachi Tennis Association, last-eight matches of men’s singles, junior U-18 singles, boys U-14 singles, girls U-18 singles and U-10 singles were staged while ladies’ singles first-round matches also took place.

Results (quarter-finals):

Juniors U-18 singles: Hazik Areejo bt Meer Bhagat 1-6, 6-4, 7-5; Zain Nomi bt Syed Abdullah 6-0, 6-1

Boys U-14 singles: Meer Bhagat bt Mikael Asad 4-0, 4-0; Shayan Afridi bt Syed Sufyan 4-0, 4-0; Ibraheem Gill bt Naayel Sohaib 4-0, 4-1

Girls U-18 singles: Pareezeh Haroon bt Ariana Raheel 4-6, 6-4, 7-5

Men’s singles: Ehtisham Malik bt Hamza Essa Jee 8-3

U-10 singles: Zayan Nomi bt Reeay Talha 3-5, 4-1, 4-2

Ladies singles (first round): Mashal Hussain bt Sophia 8-0; Marium Shahid bt Alina Sheikh 8-0.
