PESHAWAR, July 27: NWFP Information Technology Minister Hussain Ahmad Kanju has directed his department to prepare a documentary film with the help of the information department’s production house to highlight the IT projects of the provincial government in the ITCN exhibition being held in Karachi next month.

While reviewing progress on the projects here Thursday, the minister said the NWFP IT department had done a lot as compared to other provinces since its founding four years ago.

He praised the department for launching the provincial government’s official web portal, publishing for the first time live budget speech of the finance minister on the internet and providing fresh information regarding the Oct 8 earthquake.—PPI

Mr Kanju said the provincial government was committed to eradicating the ‘corrupt’ patwar system and the computerisation of land record would be completed at all costs.

He said he would soon lead a delegation to India to review its computerised land record system.

English learning: The NWFP Minister for Education Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani has said that Islam does not forbid Muslims from learning any language, adding that English is an international language and needs to be learnt for effective interaction with other nations.

He was addressing a consultative workshop arranged for managers of seminaries, teachers and students of Madressahs at the British Council Peshawar today.

MNA Qari Fayyazur Rahman Alvi , former provincial minister Qari Roohullah Madni, JUI leader Abdul Jalil Jan and organisers of different religious institutions also attended the workshop.—PPI
