KARACHI, July 27: The Sindh High Court issued notices in a petition alleging that a co-operative housing society was out to forcibly occupy land in sector 25 of Scheme 33.
Petitioner Ali Nawaz submitted through Advocate Syed Jamil Ahmed that he owned 5.6 acres in sector 25A of Scheme-33. The Pakistan Postal Employees Co-operative Housing Society has arbitrarily included the land in its housing project and now wanted to forcibly take possession of his land. The society’s layout plan has been approved by the master plan group of offices of the city district government.
According to the petitioner, however, the district officer for revenue has cancelled the incorporation of the land in the housing project.
Issuing notices for a date to be fixed by the office, a division bench, comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Maqbool Baqar, ordered that status quo be maintained in the meantime.
INJUNCTION GRANTED: The Sindh High Court on Thursday ordered that an under trial alleged drug baron should not be removed from the central prison to any other place without the permission of the trial court, adds PPI.
The interim order came on a petition by Haji Lal Mohammad alias Haji Laloo who submitted that he was illegally removed from prison on July 7 and detained for one week by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell in the sub-jail situated at Garden Police Line Karachi.
His counsel Ilyas Khan said that the police officers Farooq Awan and Chudhary Aslam kept the custody of under trial prisoner in the so-called sub-jail.
