ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday initiated proceedings to declare PTI leaders Sheikh Waqas Akram and Zain Qureshi proclaimed offenders in the Sangjani rally case and directed the authorities to place the names of Zartaj Gul and Omar Ayub on the Exit Control List (ECL).

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra passed the directions while hearing the case registered at Sangjani Police Station against the PTI leaders and other party workers.

During the hearing, the court accepted exemption-from-appearance applications filed by PTI leaders Shoaib Shaheen, Ali Bukhari and Ali Shah.

The court also sought details of the assets owned by Zartaj Gul and Omar Ayub as part of the proceedings against the two leaders.

It further initiated the process of declaring Sheikh Waqas Akram and Zain Qureshi proclaimed offenders after they failed to appear before the court.

The court adjourned further proceedings until October 31.
