Two shot at, wounded by suspected robbers

KARACHI: A man was shot at and wounded by suspected robbers at the Dhoraji cut along the main Stadium Road on Thursday.

New Town police said that Mohammed Rizwan, 39, stopped his car for a while to talk to someone on his mobile phone when armed pillion riders attempted to loot him. He put up resistance but the suspects resorted to firing. Mr Rizwan received a gunshot wound and was transported to a nearby private hospital, where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

In another incident, a man, Manzar Nadeem, 22, was shot at and injured in a similar incident along Rashid Minhas Road.

The victim was taken to the JPMC for treatment.

Man shot dead

A 25-year-old man was shot dead in Surjani Town on Thursday, according to police.

They said that the victim, Azizur Rehman, was attacked by unknown assailants in Gohram Goth, ostensibly over some personal enmity.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

According to the police, the body of the deceased man was handed over to the heirs after a postmortem examination.

They said an investigation into the murder was underway.
