PESHAWAR: Additional information secretary, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML- N) Arbab Khizar Hayat said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government had failed in establishing writ of law in KP even during its consecutive third term in power.

Addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, Arbab Khizar Hayat said during PTI’s tenure, the only measures taken were attempts to free PTI founder.

He stated that this is the third tenure of the PTI government; yet, in return for the votes received, PTI has not fulfilled the expectations of people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He noted that public resources were squandered on rallies and processions aimed at securing the release of PTI founder, while the province’s residents were deprived of education, healthcare and other essential amenities.

He remarked that incidents of terrorism were on the rise in the province and the provincial government lacked an action plan.

He added that while the federal government supported the PTI provincial administration at every turn, PTI consistently attempted to confront the federation, a stance that had frustrated the public.

Arbab Khizar Hayat pointed out that Rs100 billion had, for instance, been allocated for the beautification of Peshawar, but how the funds had been spent remained unknown. Instead, he alleged, contracts were awarded to favoured contractors and substandard materials were used, which, he claimed, were washed away whenever it rained.

He said 702 incidents of terrorism had been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2024, with the number increasing in 2025. A further 769 incidents had been reported by September 2026, he added.

He alleged that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government had failed to give adequate attention to curbing terrorism in the province.

He said it was now the right of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to demand either the imposition of a state of emergency or Governor’s Rule to provide relief to the province’s residents.
