Six injured in axe attack by ‘drunk’

NAROWAL: Six people were critically injured in Sialkot after a man, allegedly under the influence, attacked them with a sharp-edged axe.

A spokesperson for Rescue Sialkot Muhammad Waseem said the control room received a call from Kot Kabba village in Pasrur tehsil reporting that an intoxicated man had attacked several people with an axe.

He said rescue teams reached the scene immediately and provided first aid to the injured before shifting them to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Pasrur.

The injured were identified as Naeem Ismail (45), Muhammad Hussain (21), Muhammad Hussain (22), Salman Aman (32), Wajahat Kabir (18), and Usman Akram (20). Two of the injured were stated to be critical.

Local police also reached the scene after being informed about the attack.

Eyewitnesses Naseer Ahmed and Farhan Ali said the assailant fled the scene while brandishing the axe.

Police registered a first information report against the suspect under relevant legal sections and launched a hunt for his arrest. Sources said police were conducting raids with the help of human intelligence and modern technology.

Police have also launched an investigation after recording statements from the injured and eyewitnesses and collecting evidence from the scene.
