Gilani extends wishes to Morocco’s first female prime minister

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri on her appointment as Morocco’s first female prime minister and conveyed his best wishes for her success in office.

In his message of felicitation, the Senate chairman described her appointment as a significant milestone in Morocco’s political history and an important recognition of women’s role in political leadership and public service.

He expressed confidence that, with her experience and leadership, she would make a meaningful contribution to Morocco’s continued development, prosperity and public welfare.

The Senate chairman conveyed his best wishes for peace, progress and prosperity to the government and people of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Meanwhile, Senate chairman President Xi Jinping, the Chinese leadership and the people of the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of China’s National Day.

In his message, Gilani said that Pakistan and China’s All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership represents one of the most enduring and time-tested relationships between two nations, built on mutual trust, mutual respect, shared aspirations and steadfast support for each other.

He said that over seven and a half decades, the friendship between Pakistan and China had withstood the test of time and changing regional and global circumstances,

growing from strength to strength.

He noted that 2026 holds special significance as Pakistan and China mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, describing the milestone as a celebration of a unique bond between two countries and peoples that have consistently stood by each other in times of both opportunity and challenge.

The two countries have reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing this relationship and building an even closer China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future.

The Senate underscored the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in sustaining the momentum of this historic relationship, saying that regular exchanges between the Parliament of Pakistan and the National People’s Congress of China provide an important platform for deepening mutual understanding, strengthening institutional linkages and advancing shared interests.

“Pakistan-China partnership today encompasses strategic, political, economic, defence, trade, technological and people-to-people cooperation, reflecting the depth and breadth of the relationship,” he said.

He particularly highlighted China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a flagship manifestation of the enduring Pakistan-China partnership, expressing confidence that its next phase would open new avenues for industrialisation, investment, agriculture, technology, energy, connectivity and socio-economic development.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Parliament of Pakistan to further strengthening bilateral parliamentary relations, the Senate chairman said that the friendship between Pakistan and China belongs not only to the present generation but is a bond to be carried forward by generations to come.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has also felicitated Chinese leadership, the National People’s Congress and the people of China on the 77th National Day of the People’s Republic of China.

Mr Sadiq paid tribute to the resilience and unity of the Chinese people, saying that China’s remarkable progress under the leadership of President Xi Jinping serves as an example for the world.
