Deputy director allegedly beats up PCP chairman over transfer issue

ISLAMABAD: A deputy director on deputation at Press Council of Pakistan (PCP) beat the council’s chairman black and blue after he repatriated him to his parent department.

Over the incident the chairman registered a case against the official under section 506 ii and 34 of Pakistan Penal Code.

The incident took place inside the council’s building at H-9 near the Excise and Taxation Office when Chairman Mohammad Arshad Khan Jadoon was busy in official work. The deputy director entered the chairman’s office along with two persons armed with pistol and dagger and iron fist and attacked him.

They held the chairman at gunpoint and threatened him with dire consequences. Later, they beat him black and blue and as a result he started bleeding. They also made an attempt to stab him, but the chairman’s son, who was also present in the office, intervened and rescued him.

Hearing screams from the room of the chairman’s office, the other staff of the council rushed towards it. However, the attackers also attacked a staff member – Tamour Kiani, who sustained injuries.

Later, the attackers escaped from the office, and the injured were shifted to hospital.
