KARACHI: The Sindh health department on Tuesday stated that a total 117,016 malaria cases have been reported across the province during nine months of year 2026.

The deputy director general for vector-borne diseases (VBDs), Sindh, has released detailed malaria data for the province covering the period from Jan 1 to Sept 29, 2026, said a statement issued here.

According to the province-wide statistics, a total of 1,915,058 individuals across Sindh underwent malaria screening, and of them 117,016 patients were diagnosed positive while the total death toll remained zero as no fatalities due to malaria were reported during the period under review.

It further mentioned that not a single patient suffering from cerebral malaria was hospitalised across the province. According to the statistics, as many as 55,654 individuals were screened for malaria in the Karachi division and 1,087 malaria cases were detected.

In the Hyderabad division, 626,282 individuals were screened and 46,183 cases were detected.

In the Sukkur division, 12,058 cases were reported following the screening of 191,328 individuals while in the Larkana division a total of 583,691 individuals were screened and 33,785 cases were recorded.

In the Mirpurkhas division, 10,898 cases were detected after screening of 187,980 individuals while in the Shaheed Benazirabad division 270,123 individuals were screened and of them 13,005 cases were reported.

The health department stated that malaria prevention and surveillance activities were being effectively carried out in all divisions of Sindh.
