TOBA TEK SINGH: A woman and her two minor daughters were critically burnt in the fire that broke out in their house at Chak 148/15-L, tehsil Mian Channu in district Khanewal on Monday.
According to Rescue 1122, the children had set scrap on fire while playing, which spread and engulfed the house of Irshad Bibi. As a result, Irshad (33) and her daughters Shagufta (3) and Manda (2) received critical burns.
They were rescued by the firefighters after extinguishing the fire and were shifted to Mian Channu Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
HONOUR KILLING: The body of a missing 17-year-old girl was found murdered at Chak 411-GB Majiana, tehsil Tandlianwala on Monday. She was killed by her father.
Police said Abdul Jabbar had registered a case with Tandlianwala City police against a youth, his mother and sister on the charge of kidnapping his daughter Anam on Sept 26. They were arrested but found innocent. On Monday, police took Jabbar into custody for interrogation and he confessed that he had shot his daughter dead as she had relations with a youth of the village. He said he had thrown her body into an old well. On his indication, police recovered her body from the well.
ACCIDENTS: A couple died after a speeding car hit their motorcycle near Chak 124-GB, Jaranwala, on the Faisalabad-Okara Road.
According to Rescue 1122, Abid Waseem (55) and his wife, Sadia Bibi (45), residents of Chak 38-GD were on their way from Okara to Jaranwala when a car coming from the opposite direction hit their bike and killed them on impact.
In another incident,a trailer driver died while his helper was injured in an accident involving two trailersnear Pirmahal on M-3.
Motorway police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmad said the trailer driver fell asleep due to which he lost control of his vehicle and hit the trailer going ahead. As a result, driver Muhammad Niaz (55) died and his helper, Munir Ahmad (32), was injured. Both were residents of Rahim Yar Khan.
CONVICTED: Additional District and Sessions Judge Gojra Malik Muhammad Mushtaq handed down the death sentence to a convict in a murder case.
The court also ordered the convict to pay Rs500,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased. According to the prosecution, Muhammad Bilal had shot dead Abdul Jabbar in Chak 245 GB Talwandi over a dispute over the construction of a wall a year ago. The court acquitted his co-accused, Perveen Bibi, giving her the benefit of doubt.
BOOKED: Inspector General of Police Rao Abdul Kareem took notice of a video viral on social media in which a gypsy woman riding a donkey cart along with her minor children is being beaten publicly by Kamalia Saddar SHO Imran Ghafoor with shoes.
On the IGP’s order, a case was registered against the SHO and police have arrested him. The case was registered on the complaint of DSP Munir Ahmad. The SHO tortured the woman, suspecting her to be a thief.
