DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Three workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf were injured after a group of unidentified men allegedly roughed them up as they were making preparations for a rally on Saturday night, police said.

Reporting the incident to the cantonment police station, Ramzan Marwat, 25, said that he and other PTI workers were putting up banners and arranging chairs at the district auditorium hall when nine to 10 unidentified men arrived there.

The complainant alleged that the attackers manhandled the workers and snatched their mobile phones. He said that the attackers torched the banners displayed at the venue.

Mr Marwat said he, along with two others, sustained injuries in the incident.

The incident took place a day before the PTI was scheduled to hold a rally on Sunday. Sources said the rally was cancelled following the incident.

Police registered a case and initiated an investigation to establish the identity of those involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
