JHELUM: Sanitation and water supply issues remain a permanent issue for the residents of Pind Dadan Khan due to neglect of authorities.
The residents of Naich village located in the vicinity of the tehsil headquarters said they were supplied water for a single day in 30 days, and the water was also dirty and contaminated. They regretted that their children and community instead of devoting time to their studies and daily wage earning were forced to travel long distances to bring loads of drinkable water on carts and rickshaws.
They lamented that they were forced to bear monthly billing and repair charges of pipelines by the authorities of tehsil administration but without proper water supply.
On the other hand, residents of Kot Sultan locality of Pind Dadan Khan said that the streets had turned into pools of muddy water lying permanently stagnant there making their passage to and from homes a regular ordeal.
Amna Shafqat, the assistant commissioner Pind Dadan Khan tehsil, when contacted for her comments, said water supply pipelines needed revamping through replacement with new ones.
About the Mohalla Kot Sultan’s streets, she said she had visited the area. “The unpaved streets were expanding the drains into streets and the municipality would take up the issue for the pavement of these streets”.
The residents called upon chief minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to order an improvement of civic amenities for the area.
