GUJRANWALA, July 24: Gujranwala DIG cancelled the transfers of the 20 police officers including SHOs ordered by former Sialkot DPO after the latter was himself transferred under a Supreme Court decree, it is learnt here on Monday.

The apex court had ordered Punjab IG to transfer the DPO, Tariq Khokher, when he failed to recover a kidnapped man, Bashir Ahmad, a month ago despite the court orders.

After the issuance of his transfer orders, the former DPO reportedly transferred as many as 20 officers including inspectors, SHOs, sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors etc overnight.

However, DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal, taking serious notice of these hasty transfers, cancelled the same immediately.

CRACKDOWN: The Punjab government is going to launch a crackdown on the private educational institutions reportedly fleecing parents in the name of providing quality education to their wards. This was stated by EDO (education) Raja Khadim Hussain at a meeting held in Wazirabad on Monday.
