SUKKUR, July 24: Former speaker of the National Assembly, Ellahi Bux Soomro, has said that army rulers were responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation Balochistan and maintained that only politicians could handle such situations.

He was talking to newsmen in Jacobabad on Monday.

He said that President Musharraf had deceived the nation on the issue of uniform and lost confidence of the nation. He said that civil bureaucracy had miserably failed to perform its actual duty that’s why the integrity and solidarity of the country has been put to stake.

He said that all the four federating units were having differences with each other as a result of frequent imposition of martial law in the country.

He further said that charter of democracy was realization of the mistakes committed by Mian Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto and was optimistic that “they would not repeat the same mistakes.

He said that no one can stop both the leaders from returning to Pakistan adding that Mian Nawaz Sharif was living in exile by force much against his free will.

Referring to the letter written to president Musharraf by senior politicians and former army generals, Mr Soomro said that the letter would definitely influence the situation for sure and added that democracy and democratic institutions will prevail.

He was of the view that the Mumbai bomb blasts and killing of Allama Hassan Turrabi in a suicide bomb attack were the acts of those elements who were out to sabotage friendly and cordial relations between Pakistan and India.
