KARACHI: Salman Ali Agha smashed his maiden first-class triple century while Haris Rauf ran riot with four wickets as Kingsmen Academy and Pakistan Television dominated the second day of the President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament in Abbottabad and Islamabad, respectively on Sunday.
Salman’s unbeaten 300 off 336 balls, featuring 42 fours and six sixes, made him the 18th batter to score a triple century in Pakistan’s domestic first-class cricket. He helped Kingsmen Academy declare their first innings at 565-7 against Markhor IT Solutions, who finished the day on 179-3, still 386 runs behind.
At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Kingsmen Academy resumed at 257-3 before declaring at 565-7, with Salman reaching his landmark off 336 balls. He shared a mammoth 274-run partnership with Mohammad Suleman, who scored 115.
In reply, MIT Solutions reached 179-3 in 31 overs, led by an unbeaten 107 from Mohammad Farooq.
At the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Haris claimed four for 21 in seven overs as PTV reduced Oil and Gas Development Company Limited to 90-5 after being dismissed for 400.
Haris removed OGDCL captain Rohail Nazir for 28 among his four wickets as PTV seized the initiative.
Earlier, Mohammad Taha completed his fourth first-class century, scoring 134 off 234 after resuming unbeaten on 53 with PTV at 131-3.
Sharoon Siraj fell eight runs short of his third first-class century. At the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar, Imran Rafiq scored 129 as Khan Research Laboratories declared their first innings at 547-9.
Imran shared a 172-run partnership with wicket-keeper-batter Asim Ali Nasir, who made 87 off 128.
Shaheen Shah Afridi contributed 47 off 49 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes.
Ghani reached 200-5 by stumps, as Arshad Iqbal took two wickets for KRL.
At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited took a three-run lead over State Bank of Pakistan after reaching 161-5 in their first innings.
SBP, who resumed at 44-3, were bowled out for 158 as Ahmed Safi Abdullah and Khan Zeb took three wickets apiece for SNGPL, while left-arm pacer Shehzad Gul claimed two.
