HARIPUR: Nazim, naib nazim held

HARIPUR, July 24: A union nazim and naib nazim were arrested on charges of manhandling officials of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) here on Monday.

The arrests were made after a complaint was filed on Saturday by Roohul Amin, telephone clerk, Mohammad Yousuf, line superintendent, and three other officials of Pesco against union nazim of Tarbela Sardar Saleem Khan, naib nazim Salim Tanoli and two unidentified persons.

The complainants stated that the power supply to the Khalabat town was suspended for a short time between the night of Thursday and Friday.

He said that this had infuriated the union nazim who forcibly entered the Pesco office along with two other men and the naib nazim and thrashed them and took away the telephone clerk with him. An FIR was lodged against Sardar Saleem Khan, naib nazim Salim Tanoli under sections 186/34 and 506.
