Iran’s top security official Mohsen Rezaei says Tehran will announce a new restricted zone outside the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days, Al Jazeera reports, citing state media.
The zone will begin from the line of the US Navy’s blockade and extend to areas in the Gulf, Rezaei was quoted as saying.
Any ship that enters the new zone will be added to the sanctions list, he warned.
“The new international corridor that Iran manages has been determined with the Omani brothers and will be announced in the coming days,” Rezaei said, according to state media.
