KARACHI: The judicial commission formed to investigate the murder of Mir Raza Ali on Thursday issued notices to the deceased family, their lawyer and a provincial government focal person for Friday (today).
The provincial government has formed the judicial commission to probe the circumstances leading to the death of young entrepreneur Mir Raza and determining possible negligence by medical and police officials during the investigation.
The one-member commission headed by Justice Omar Sial of the Sindh High Court will record the statements of the family members of deceased, their lawyer Jibran Nasir and the focal person for Sindh government.
The commission, also mandated to make recommendations for further investigation as well as forensic analysis or legal / departmental action, was formed under Section 3 (1) of the Sindh Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance, 1969 and it would likely conclude the probe in 30 days and submit the findings to the provincial government.
Raza’s parents and his sister have strongly opposed the formation of the judicial commission and challenged the same before the SHC, seeking directives for the provincial government to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the case.
The SHC had issued notices to federal and provincial officials as well as law officers for Aug 31 on the family’s petition subject to maintainability of the plea.
