LARKANA, July 19: The Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan has sought a report from Secretary Local Government Sindh on a no-confidence motion against Munwar Ali Abro, naib district nazim of Larkana.

According to sources, the Deputy Secretary (LGE), Syed Sher Afgan, on behalf of the Election Commission of Pakistan, in a letter to the Secretary Local Government said that his earlier remarks indicated that he had not taken into consideration five letters and a CD sent to him while sending the report.

Syed Iftikhat Hussain Shah, Deputy Secretary (Election) of Election Cmmission of Pakistan, in a letter sent to the secretary on July 15, 2006 had enclosed five letters spread over 26 pages and one CD of the proceedings of the no-confidence motion and sought immediate report on it.

These letters were written by the provincial election commission, Badaruddain Abbasi the senior most presiding officer, district council, Munwar Ali Abro, Naib nazim Larkana district and Amir Bakhsh Bhutto, vice chairman of the Sindh National Front. The Election commission forwarding the entire material asked the secretary local government Sindh for an immediate report.

The Election Commission finding the answer unsatisfactory again sought the report before initiating action in the light of the report in a fresh letter, sources said.

It may be mentioned here that the district council in its special session convened on July 8 with 34 votes had unseated the district naib nazim of Larkana.

Of 34 polled votes, two ballot papers were found unstamped and unsigned.
