Suspect shot dead in ‘encounter’

KARACHI: A suspected robber was gunned down in an alleged encounter in Liaquatabad on Saturday.

The police said an exchange of fire took place between armed suspects and the police in B-Area of Liaquatabad. One suspect, namely Sumair alias Kala, was gunned down while his accomplice fled. One 9mm pistol and a motorcycle stolen from within the Liaquatabad police limits were recovered from his custody.

The police said that the killed suspect had a past criminal record, with 19 FIRs registered against him at different police stations pertaining to encounters, attempted murder, illegal weapons, robberies and motorcycle lifting. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
