PESHAWAR: Provincial minister for information and public relations Shafi Jan on Saturday said the decision to march towards Islamabad on September 27 has been taken in consultation with the party leadership and its allies.

He said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) wanted to move forward with its allies and was also in contact with religious political parties.

“We will march towards Islamabad with full preparations. The march may continue for several days,” he said in a statement issued from his office.

Mr Jan said that PTI had exhausted all constitutional and legal avenues to secure the fundamental and legal rights of founding chairman, Imran Khan, adding that he had been denied constitutional and legal rights while all the avenues had been blocked.

“We are now left with no option but to march towards Islamabad,” he said.

The minister said that the movement was being organised across the country, with PTI reaching out to Punjab and other provinces, adding that seminars would also be held at various universities to mobilise and engage the youth.

He stated that ‘Shaheens’ of Allama Iqbal would lead the struggle and people would participate in the movement in large numbers, adding that PTI’s doors were open to political parties seeking to join the political struggle against the federal government.

Mr Jan stated that If the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wanted to get rid of the current government, it should resign from its constitutional positions and sit on the opposition benches, adding that those who had usurped the people’s mandate would have to answer to the people.

He also reaffirmed that PTI’s peaceful political struggle for restoration of the people’s mandate, supremacy of the Constitution and law and the release of Mr Khan would continue.
