BAJAUR: Students of a government primary school for boys in the Tarkhoo area of Lowi Mamund tehsil on Saturday blocked the Laghari-Inayat Kallay Road against the closure of their institution on security reasons a couple of days ago.
Besides the students, many residents, including political and social activists, also attended the demonstration. The participants chanted slogans for the early reopening of the school.
They said the school’s closure was wasting the precious time of hundreds of students.
Political and social activists said the move had deprived students of their right to education.
They urged the authorities to reopen the school without delay.
The students ended the protest and reopened the road after a team of the education department’s local officials approached them.
The team, led by deputy district education officer Lovodan Shahid, assured the protesters that the issue would be addressed at the earliest.
“We are also concerned about the closure of the institution on security grounds and assure you that it will be reopened soon,” the officials told the students.
