TAXILA: The Punjab government has provided a 7,000-litre sewer suction unit to the Municipal Committee Hazro under the Punjab development programme to strengthen sanitation services and improve the city’s sewerage system.

The machine was handed over on Saturday to officials during an inauguration ceremony attended by former minister and member of the Punjab Chief Minister’s Monitoring Committee, Jahangir Khanzada.

Project Director Waqar Khan briefed the participants on the technical specifications of the newly acquired equipment.

Speaking to the media, Jahangir Khanzada said the 7,000-litre sewer suction unit is mounted on a 34-ton truck and is equipped with an additional spare wheel, a complete tool kit, and other essential accessories.

He said the machine would be used for cleaning sewerage lines, drains and clogged sewerage systems, removing liquid waste efficiently, and addressing urban drainage issues, particularly during the monsoon season.

He expressed confidence that the equipment would significantly improve municipal services and provide relief to residents.

Khanzada thanked Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for approving the provision of the sewer suction machine in response to the demand raised for Hazro, saying the initiative reflected the provincial government’s commitment to improving civic infrastructure and public service delivery across Punjab.
