GUJRAT: The anti-corruption establishment (ACE) on Wednesday booked and arrested a senior official of Gujranwala Municipal Corporation (GMC) for selling the property of an overseas Pakistani woman through forged documents.
The ACE has also arrested a Nikkah registrar and Nikkah Khawan in another case of fraud on Wednesday.
A senior anti-corruption official said suspect namely Muhammad Ibrar Rasool, a senior GMC official, had been arrested by the Gujranwala ACE circle as per directions of ACE Director General Sohail Zafar Chatha.
He said the judicial action had been approved by the competent authority in case No. 69/25 U/S 420/486/471 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at Gujranwala ACE police station.
The suspect, he said, had sold the house of the complainant through fraud and forgery when she was out of the country.
Meanwhile, the ACE have booked and arrested a Nikkah Khawan Muhammad Bilal Mustafa and Nikkah registrar namely Muhammad Javed after a case was lodged against them under sections 420/468/471 of Pakistan Penal Code and 5/2/47 PCA at anti-corruption establishment Gujranwala police station.
The accused persons had forged and affixed fabricated signatures and thumb impressions of the complainant and the witnesses on the Nikahnama.
