TOBA TEK SINGH: Two children of the same family died and four others were seriously injured after a dilapidated roof of a house caved in during rain early on Thursday morning in Chak 219 RB, Tallianwala, located on the Jhang Road in Faisalabad.
According to Rescue 1122, the accumulated rainwater on the roof caused its collapse, trapping five people. Rescuers and locals removed debris and found two of the victims dead. They were identified as Subhan (5) and six-month-old Rizwan.
The injured, including their father Idrees (50), his wife Rozina Bibi (45) and their son Muhammad Ahmad (6), were shifted to the Allied Hospital.
Meanwhile, the roof of a mudhouse collapsed in Greenwood City located near Satwan Meel on the Faisalabad Road in Jhang during rain. Three persons of the same family were critically wounded in the incident.
They were shifted to the Jhang DHQ Hospital by rescuers and were identified as Shan Muhammad (22), his mother Shahnaz Bibi (45) and his niece Aliyah (3).
In another incident in Jhang, a motorcycle rickshaw overturned at Jamia Chowk on Gojra Road. Three rickshaw passengers were injured and were shifted to the Jhang DHQ Hospital.
They included Sughra Bibi (60), Asia Bibi (18) and Sultan Ali (55).
ENCOUNTER:An alleged robber was killed late on Wednesday night near Chak 235 GB on Bachiana Road in Jaranwala tehsil in an encounter with the Crime Control Department.
Police claimed that a CCD team led by Jaranwala In-Charge Adeel Shoukat signalled three suspects riding a motorcycle to stop but they opened fire, which was also returned.
When the firing stopped, police claimed to have found one suspect dead by the firing of his accomplices, who had managed to escape away. The deceased was identified as Wakeel Hassan of Chak 629 GB, who was wanted by police in a number of robberies.
Meanwhile, Faisalabad’s Madina Town Police claimed to have arrested a robbery and theft accused in injured condition during an alleged police encounter on Thursday.
According to the police, Madina Town SHO Adeel Cheema, along with a team, signalled two suspicious motorcycle riders to stop on the Ghulam Farid Road. Instead of stopping, police claimed the suspects opened fire on the police. After a two-way firefight, police claimed to have arrested one suspect in injured condition, while his accomplice fled the scene. He was identified as Yasir Ali of Chak 208 RB, who had a record of more than 20 cases of robberies.
