MIANWALI, July 17: Residents of Chitta Watta and Lukanwala of the Sawans union council have been without drinking water for the last three weeks owing to theft of transformers of both the water supply schemes.

UC councillor Shafaullah Khan said on Monday some thieves took away transformer of the water supply scheme in Chitta Watta three weeks ago. Two days later, they made off with another transformer from Lukanwala Wandha.

He alleged the police were informed, but they did not bother to even register an FIR or arrest the culprits. Similarly, the Wapda authorities had never installed new transformers to restore electricity. The residents have to fetch water from far-flung areas.
