LAHORE: Noreen Niazi, a sister of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, has moved the Lahore High Court seeking protective bail in a case by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Islamabad.
The FIR registered under sections 20 and 26-A of the Peca, 2016, alongside sections 505 and 506 of the PPC, alleges that Ms Niazi made derogatory and inflammatory remarks against state institutions during a podcast interview and through subsequent clips shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Filed by her counsel, Barrister Shahryar Riaz, the petition states that because the case was registered in Islamabad while the petitioner resides permanently in Lahore, she apprehends arbitrary arrest before she can approach the proper judicial forum.
Maintaining that the allegations are politically motivated and part of an attempt to harass her, the petitioner seeks interim protective bail to safely appear before the relevant court in Islamabad.
