JACOBABAD, July 17: A five-year-old feud between Jakhrani and Brohi clans which has so far claimed 13 lives from both sides resurfaced in an area undre the Mauladad police station on Monday when the two groups exchanged heavy fire.

The firing prompted DPO Munir Ahmed Khuhro to rush to the area with a heavy contingent of police who cordoned off the Jakhrani and Brohi villages and forced the groups to cease fire.

Police conducted a search and arrest operation in 10 villages of the area including Dari Jakhrani, Mirwahi, Nawrha, Rai Jakhrani, Din Mohammad Brohi, Mohammad Brohi and Din Mohammad, which resulted in arrest of 19 men and recovery of arms.

Police seized 600 kalashnikov bullets, a double-barrel gun, a single-barrel gun, a rifle, 19 rifle bullets and two tractors, the DPO said.

The arrested men were identified as Manghir Jakhrani, Ihsan Jakhrani, Nihal Jakhrani, Sherdil Jakhrani, Mehboob Jakhrani, Habibur Rehman Jakhrani, Sardar Lashari, Moosa Lashari, Khudadad Chang, Mohammad Arif, Jabbar, Abdul Rehman, Pyaro Brohi, Ghulam Din Brohi, Ghulam Nabi Brohi, Ahmed Din Brohi, Ahmed Khan Brohi, Asghar Brohi and Rahatullah Brohi.

The DPO said that Mehboob Jakhrani was involved in four murders and 11 other cases in different areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
