DERA GHAZI KHAN: A major smuggling attempt was thwarted by the Border Military Police (BMP) at Bewata in DG Khan leading to the seizure of massive quantities of drugs and contraband items.

An inter-provincial suspect was arrested and a case registered against him.

During a media briefing, BMP Commandant Ameer Taimoor Khan, accompanied by Risaldar Abdullah Khan Leghari and SHO Ashfaq Ahmed Leghari, revealed that acting on a tip-off, they stopped a vehicle travelling from Loralai district in Balochistan to Lahore at the Bewata checkpoint. A thorough search uncovered hidden compartments in the vehicle packed with crystal methamphetamine worth millions of rupees. The arrested individual, a resident of Peshawar, has been booked under the Narcotics Control Act at the Bewata police station.

The authorities have widened the investigation to dismantle entire network and to apprehend any other facilitators involved.

In a separate operation, the BMP intercepted a truck carrying a large quantity of foreign cigarettes, ‘paan’, ‘gutka’, and other illegal items, with the total value of these goods also estimated to be in tens of millions of rupees.
