LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday arrested six passport and visa agents.

The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle and Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore conducted raids at the passport offices in Nankana Sahib, Sahiwal and Sargodha districts and arrested Arsalan, Karamat, Allah Ditta, Shehryar, Basharat Ali and Farooq.

It said that Arsalan, Karamat, Allah Ditta and Shehryar were illegally charging citizens additional amounts for obtaining passports. The suspects allegedly deceived citizens by promising to get their passports issued urgently and charged them exorbitant amounts.

Passports, tokens, bank challans, receipts and other important evidence were recovered from their possession. FIA claimed.

The FIA further said that suspects Shehryar and Farooq had allegedly defrauded citizens of a total of Rs1.19 million on the pretext of arranging work visas for them abroad.
