Man dies in flooded basement

LAHORE: A man drowned in the flooded basement of a house in the DHA Phase V on Friday.

According to a Rescue 1122 spokesperson, the emergency control room received a call, reporting that a man drowned in nearly 10-foot-deep rainwater accumulated in the basement of House No 194 in the DHA.

The caller informed the emergency service that the victim,Malik Awais (53), son of Malik Anees, was flushing out the rainwater accumulated in the basement, using a water pump, when he drowned.

A Rescue 1122 diving team dispatched to the house retrieved the body from its basement.

The body was shifted to IMC Hospital for completion of legal formalities.

The search and rescue operation involved 20 rescuers and six emergency vehicles, the spokesperson said.
