QUETTA, July 16: At least nine people were injured in a bomb explosion in the Barkhan area while a pylon of the Barkhan-Kohlu power transmission line was blown up on Sunday.

According to official sources, the bomb planted near an electronics goods shop in the town’s main bazaar went off, injuring the nine people, including the owner of the shop and passers-by.

Two of the injured were sent to Multan as their condition was serious. “It was a homemade bomb with a timer,” a police officer said, adding that many shops and vehicles were damaged.

The damage to the transmission line pylon did not affect power supply to Kohlu.

A wall of the office of the National Database and Registration Authority in Nushki was damaged in another blast.
