BAHAWALPUR, July 16: Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association’s divisional chapter demanded that provincial government should take action against BISE head Ms Bilqis Akram for her alleged involvement in nepotism and favouritism

In a strongly-worded resolution passed here at a PPLA meeting held under its chairperson Prof Muhammad Auyb, the body alleged that BISE chairperson had ignored many senior and competent teachers in important assignments, giving preference to most junior teachers. It also alleged that she assigned to her husband a key post in the board.

The body demanded Ms Akram’s removal from the board chairmanship, adding that if the demand was not met, the PPLA members would launch a protest movement against her.

The PPLA also expressed concern over the changes made to the curriculum by federal government, and urged a uniform education system in country. It also demanded that the old examination system and educational schedule should be restored that students time could be saved.

The meeting demanded the Punjab education department should reject the new marking policy of boards’ committee as it was against the interests of students and teachers.

The participants also claimed that many PPLA members were being victimised for opposing the BISE chairperson,

ENCROACHMENTS: TMA has announced to launch an anti-encroachment drive in the city from July 18.

TMO Ahmed Kamal warned the shopkeepers that if they failed to demolish themselves the illegal constructions by July 17, all such structures would be demolished by the TMA squads.
