KARACHI, July 16: The Karachi Union of Journalists has condemned the recent increase in incidents of violence against journalists.

According to a press release, the KUJ urged political and religious parties to take effective steps to stop acts of violence by their workers against journalists.

The statement referred to incidents of firing on a van of a TV channel, beating up of crew of another channel and a photographer of a daily newspaper who were covering events in the wake of the assassination of Allama Hassan Turabi on Friday.

The statement also urged the government to take action against elements involved in incidents of violence.
