LAHORE, July 15: The level of Tarbela on Saturday went up by another five feet and of Mangla by two feet because of the arrival of more rainwater from the catchment areas, according to the Flood Forecasting Division.
It said from July 1 to date the level of Tarbela had increased by 50 feet and of Mangla by 20 feet. The situation was satisfactory with regard to the filling of the two main reservoirs, it reported.
The Indus was in low flood at Tarbela and all the other rivers were in below low flood level. The situation would likely to remain so till the arrival of another spell of widespread monsoon rains or melting of glaciers as a result of high temperatures.
Chief Meteorologist Shaukat Awan said the system that generated widespread rain in the country had dissipated, expecting mildly humid and clear weather for the next couple of days.
He said a low pressure had been developed over the Bay of Bengal but it was likely to move towards Bangladesh and Eastern Nepal.
Meanwhile, it remained partly cloudy in Lahore. The maximum temperature was 35 degrees C and the minimum 22 degrees C with 71 per cent humidity in the morning and 40 per cent in the evening.
