KARACHI, July 15: The city nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, urged the youth to hone up their IT skills and to excel in English language.

Speaking at a meeting in his office on Saturday, he pointed out that unemployment was a big problem for educated youth. Although they are more capable and hard working as compared to other nations, but they do not have proper opportunities, he added.

The city government, Mr Kamal said, had chalked out a plan for alleviating unemployment and providing better job opportunities to the educated youth and some 40,000 of them would be employed during the next 2 years.

He said that it was the government's responsibility to provide such opportunities to the youth and create an environment in which they could use their talents and were given an easy access to employment.

Mr Kamal said the Haq Parast leadership had taken steps to provide better employment opportunities to the youth besides solving other problems.

He pointed that at the call centre to be established in the Pakistan's tallest building, whose foundation stone would be laid soon, would have 10,000 seats for which 30,000 young people would be provided jobs while 10,000 more would be accommodated in other fields.

At the call centres, the nazim said high school graduates (intermediate) students would also be provided jobs. But it will be essential for them to have knowledge about IT and command on English for the learning of which the government is taking steps, he added.—APP
