ISLAMABAD, July 13: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Qazi Mohammad Farooq asked all political parties of the country to submit detailed statements of their accounts for the year 2005-06 by August 29.

Under Article 13 of the Political Parties Order 2002, all political parties are required to file a detailed statement of their accounts every year within 60 days from the close of each financial year. The consolidated statement of accounts of each party should be duly audited by a Chartered Accountant, showing annual income and expenses, sources of its funds and assets as well as liabilities, said the CEC.

Such statement of accounts should be accompanied by a certificate signed by the party leader, stating that no funds from any source prohibited under the political parties order were received by the party and the statement contained a financial position of the party, he added.
