CHAKWAL, July 13: The Punjab government has agreed to give honorarium to the women councillors of provincial district, tehsil and union councils.

To this effect a notification has been issued by the local government department. According to it, women councillors — including minority, labour and peasant — at the district level would get Rs1,500 per month honorarium and Rs150 per day would be paid to them for attending meetings of the district councils.

Tehsil women councillors would get Rs1,000 per month honorarium and Rs100 per day would be paid for every member for attending the meetings of the tehsil council.

Union women councillors would be paid Rs500 per month honorarium and Rs50 per day for attending union council meetings.

The notification become functional from July 1 and this honorarium amount would be paid by the district government and funds would be allocated in the annual budget of every district council.
